- Is it registered in Thailand? Is the product, or another product with the same active ingredient, on the Thai FDA register?
- What is it called here? Thai brand names often differ from those used in the UK, US, Europe or Australia.
- Do I need a prescription? How Thai law classifies the medicine, explained in plain English.
- Is it controlled? Whether the ingredient is a narcotic or psychotropic substance under Thai law.
- Can I bring it into Thailand? What the traveller rules mean for that medicine, and where to apply for a permit if you need one.
Who it is for
We write for English-speaking residents, expats, travellers and medical tourists, and for the people who support them: pharmacists, clinics, travel advisers and family members.
Where the information comes from
Our medicine pages are built from official Thai sources, mainly the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) medicine register and the Thai FDA’s narcotic and psychotropic substance lists. Every page lists its sources and shows when they were last checked. See Data sources & method for how that works.
Independence
DrugsThailand is independent. We are not affiliated with the Thai FDA, the Ministry of Public Health, any government body, any pharmaceutical company or any pharmacy. We do not sell medicines, and no one pays to appear on or influence our medicine pages. See our editorial policy.
