We use official Thai government sources only for status information. We do not use forums, sellers or other drug websites as sources for whether a medicine is registered or controlled.
How a medicine page is built
- Import. We collect registration records from the Thai FDA register.
- Normalise. We match each product’s active ingredients to a standard international name (INN), so that products registered under different spellings are grouped together.
- Link brands to ingredients. Each brand page lists the Thai registered products for the same ingredient, including local brands and generics.
- Check controlled status. We check each ingredient against the current Thai narcotic and psychotropic schedules. For controlled medicines, the category decides what we say about travel and permits.
- Review. A person reviews every page for a controlled or high-traffic medicine before it is published, and again when a source changes.
- Date stamp. Every page shows the date its sources were last checked.
What our statuses mean

| Registered | At least one product with this ingredient appears on the Thai FDA register with an active registration. |
| Not found on register | We could not find an active Thai registration. The medicine may still be available through a hospital’s special import, but you should not expect to find it in pharmacies. |
| Prescription | Thai law requires the medicine to be prescribed or dispensed under professional supervision. |
| Psychotropic · Category 1–4 | The ingredient is a psychotropic substance under Thai law. Travellers usually need a permit. |
| Narcotic · Category 1–5 | The ingredient is a narcotic under Thai law. Category 1 substances cannot be brought into Thailand under any circumstances. |
Limitations
- Registered does not mean in stock. Registration means a product is licensed for sale, not that a particular pharmacy stocks it.
- Registrations change. Products are added, renewed, suspended and cancelled. Our “last checked” date tells you how current a page is.
- Rules change. Controlled-substance schedules and traveller rules are updated by ministerial notification. Always confirm with the Thai FDA before you travel with a controlled medicine.
- Translation. Official records are mainly in Thai. Where we translate classifications, we link to the original source.
