Do I need a prescription for Levonorgestrel in Thailand?
Not necessarily. Levonorgestrel is classed as a dangerous drug (ยาอันตราย) under the Thai Drugs Act. This means it must be sold by a pharmacist in a licensed pharmacy, but a doctor’s prescription is not legally required.
Can I bring Levonorgestrel into Thailand?
Allowed
Allowed for personal use: up to 30 days’ supply
- Bring no more than 30 days’ supply for your own use.
- Keep it in the original container.
- Carry your prescription or a doctor’s letter.
- Medicines cannot be posted or shipped to you in Thailand. The 30-day allowance applies to medicines you carry.

Is levonorgestrel a controlled substance in Thailand?
No. Levonorgestrel is not on the Thai list of narcotic or psychotropic substances, where it appears in the “others” group. The ordinary medicine rules apply.
